Publisher KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Gust dropped a big anniversary surprise for Atelier fans at Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct with the launch of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land releasing on the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day, while simultaneously teasing a brand-new mainline entry, Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories, slated for early 2027.
To celebrate this massive double drop, Capcom and Gust have slashed the price of Atelier Yumia and its next-gen upgrade by 43% off on the Nintendo eShop, a limited-time launch promotion running from now until the 20th June 2026.
Initially making waves in last year, Atelier Yumia marked a huge change for the long-running franchise. The game completely discarded traditional linier corridors in favour of a massive open-world adventure paired with an intense, real-time combat system.
The story follows the brilliant alchemist Yumia Liessfeldt and her band of trusted companions as they trek across the beautifully ruined continent of Aladiss. In a world where alchemy has mysteriously become a strict societal taboo, players must explore the wilderness to gather raw crafting materials. Using the game’s revolutionary “Simple Synthesis” mechanic, hunters can craft essential survival gear and combat items on the fly without ever needing to track back to their home base. Yumia also made history for the franchise by introducing a deep “Building” mode, letting players fully construct and decorate their own specialized outposts.
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition takes full advantage of the upgraded hardware by introducing full integration with the Switch 2’s GameShare feature, allowing two players to team up and explore the vast, dangerous wilderness of Aladiss together in seamless co-op.
Atelier Karia Teased for 2027
Just as fans were processing the immediate launch of Yumia, Gust completely blindsided the audience with a dark, ethereal teaser trailer for Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories.
Further details regarding the narrative and mechanics of this newly unveiled project are being kept under wraps for now, but Gust confirmed a broad release window of early 2027. Unlike previous entries that often debuted as platform exclusives, Atelier Karia is being built as a massive multiplatform launch, heading to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
Thankfully, the wait for concrete answers will be incredibly short as KOEI TECMO closed out the teaser by promising that the first full information blow-out for Atelier Karia will drop on 12th June 2026.
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is available digitally right now on the Nintendo Switch 2, and also on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the original Nintendo Switch. The game features the original Japanese voice cast accompanied by full text localization in English, French, German, and Spanish.
