Enter the incredible imagination of Jim Henson in UHD, with the UK 4K debut of his beloved fantasy The Dark Crystal, coming to 4K & Blu-ray Collector’s Edition, 4K & Blu-ray Steelbook, Blu-ray and DVD on 22nd June 2026 from Anime Limited, in collaboration with Radial Entertainment.
Winner of the prestigious Grand Prize at the 1983 Avoriaz Film Festival, The Dark Crystal is described by Variety as “a dazzling technological and artistic achievement”. Filled to the brim with magnificently realised creatures (including the memorably horrible Skekses) the world of Thra, in glorious 4K, has never looked more enchanting and extraordinary.
A commercial and critical hit when it was first released, the film was directed by puppeting legend Jim Henson (The Muppets) and Frank Oz (the voice of Yoda in Star Wars), who both also voice some of the parts here. This is a really wonderful family film, albeit with a dark tone influenced by Grimm’s fairytales, featuring BAFTA nominated visual effects, and a marvellously stirring score by Trevor Jones (BAFTA nominated for The Last of the Mohicans).

Synopsis: Travel back in time to the fantasy world of Thra – Jen and Kira, surviving members of the Gelfling tribe, set out to find the crystal’s missing shard and begin a dangerous journey that will bring them face to face with evil Skeksis and mysterious creatures at every turn. Jen and Kira will not back down as they race the clock to save their planet.
