Tomorrow marks the 5 year anniversary of Zack Snyder’s Justice League which was released during the COVID Pandemic, and let me tell you… This film really helped me during lockdown. Not only did writing about it provide a well-needed escape, but watching it multiple times made the hours go by rather quick- I clocked 4 rewatches during its first week of release- 16 hours in total.
I remember writing about the prospect of the Snyder Cut being released, and it honestly felt like a dream. There was no way this was going to happen. However, more people started to get involved and pretty soon… It was a global event. I even remember having an exchange with Subway about their contribution to the Snyder Cut campaign. It was a wild time for Snyder and DC fans, but also a great time for suicide prevention charities. There were a lot of discourses regarding fan toxicity, but a lot of good was also done througut that community To me, the Snyder Cut represented much more than seeing my favourite superheroes on screen. It was about someone’s vision being freely expressed without restrictions and it was about unifying towards a cause that desperately needed out attention during that period of time.
Looking back, it’s actually amazing what we achieved. To celebrate its anniversary, director Zack Snyder has been sharing a tonne of BTS shots, as well as this awesome poster he stumbled across online.
With the 5 year anniversary landing tomorrow, it’ll be interesting to see what else Snyder has up his sleeve. Perhaps some more BTS footage, or even a wider cinematic release? Remember, Justice League went straight to streaming in all territories. Fans across the globe have been hoping for a theatrical release, and since we eventually got a physical release… I don’t see why not. It’s definitely not an outrageous request, so maybe keep those eyes peeled.
While we wait for the big anniversary, why don’t we take a trip down memory land and rewatch the first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Oh how the memories came flooding back.
