Dark Horse Comics and Lucasfilm have announced that The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga will launch bids on Kickstarter this week for its Collector’s Edition.
In 1997, Japanese manga artist Hisao Tamaki reimagined the landmark motion picture Star Wars: A New Hope as a manga. Nearly three decades later, Dark Horse Comics and Lucasfilm are bringing a faithful reproduction of his original art boards to fans for the first time with The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope—The Manga.
A retail edition will be available in stores next summer—but there were additional editions we wanted to create especially for dedicated fans, and Kickstarter was the best way to make them a reality.
TThe publishers have shared a first close-up look at the Collector’s Edition, along with the Triptych Folio Set—two centerpiece rewards from our upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
The Collector’s Edition is a two-volume hardcover set that showcases Tamaki’s artwork in high resolution with Kickstarter-exclusive covers and treatments. The Triptych Folio Set presents panoramic artwork in gallery-quality prints. Both will be available only through this campaign.
The Kickstarter launches Tuesday, September 16 at 9:00 AM Pacific / 5:00 PM BST.
