Dark Horse Comics has announced that June will see The Séance get his own miniseries in You Look Like Death.
Written by series co-creator Gerard Way with Shaun Simon (The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, Neverboy), illustrated by I.N.J. Culbard (Everything, The New Deadwardians), lettered by Nate Piekos (The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion, Fight Club 3), You Look Like Death explores the trials and tribulations of a young Séance as he navigates the world by himself.
Roughly ten years before the events of Apocalypse Suite, 18-year-old Séance gets himself kicked out of the Umbrella Academy. With his allowance discontinued by Hargreeves, he takes to a place where his ghoulish talents will be appreciated––Hollywood. After a magical high on a vampire-drug-lord’s stash, Klaus needs help, and doesn’t have his siblings there to save him.
“The sky is the limit to where we can expand the Umbrella Academy universe. This series will be a surprise to readers, and Ian’s distinct artwork will help with establishing Klaus’ past and building its own personal symbology.” — Gabriel Bá
“For a long time, I had wanted to tell the story of Klaus Hargreeves’ life after the Umbrella Academy disbanded and before the events of Apocalypse Suite. I imagined a pretty wild decade for Klaus– full of ups and downs, seedy places, supernatural excursions, and internal battles within himself. I am thrilled to finally be able to tell this story with my co-writer Shaun Simon, who sees the world of the UA as clearly as I do. Also thrilled to work with such an amazing art and lettering team in I.N.J. Culbard and Nate Piekos”— Gerard Way
You Look Like Death #1 (of six) goes on sale June 17, 2020.
Each issue features covers by Gabriel Bá, I.N.J. Culbard, and a third cover by guest artists including Leo Romero, Jenny Frison, and more, available for pre-order at your local comic shop. In the meantime, be sure to pick up The Umbrella Academy Library Edition Volume 1: Apocalypse Suite HC and The Umbrella Academy Library Edition Volume 2: Dallas HC, both available now wherever books are sold.

“The return of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s Umbrella Academy has been nothing short of surreal.”–Den of Geek
“Hotel Oblivion #1 is an intricately crafted, welcome return to not only this universe, but for genre books of this nature.”–Multiversity Comics

“I just love big ‘what ifs’ when it comes to unproduced screenplays. Johnnie Christmas’ adaptation of William Gibson’s unproduced Alien 3 screenplay was such a…a very compelling look at what the movie might’ve been and would’ve looked like if handled by the father of cyberpunk.”–The Beat
“Cinema’s loss is comic books’ gain in William Gibson’s Alien 3.”–Newsarama

2020 is going to see the dawn of a brand new superhero from the legendary cartoonist Mike Allred, X-Ray Robot looks set to the one of the must-have comics of 2020 and we’ve got a new preview courtesy of our friends at Dark Horse Comics!
Mike Allred Creates a Brand New Superhero at Dark Horse Comics
From visionary cartoonist, Michael Allred (Madman, iZombie), colorist Laura Allred (Madman, Catwoman), and letterer Nate Piekos (Stranger Things, The Mask) comes the out-of-this-world road trip X-Ray Robot!
Max is a family man seeking a more interesting life. While conducting a new experiment at work the fabric of his reality is torn before his eyes, and a robotic figure appears claiming to be his 277-year-old self. The robot is able to “X-Ray” multiple dimensions and battles a nihilistic entity from another dimension who wants to take all life to its “Pre-Big Bang” status. Max and the robot embark on an interdimensional road trip through past and future to take down the “Nihilist” and save the universe!
“X-RAY ROBOT expands on my “Madmaniverse”. Some of the threads are more obvious than others, but most of my creator-owned work ties together. It shouldn’t surprise anyone to have someone familiar show up from my other “Madmaniverse” books like It Girl, The Atomics, Spaceman, Mr. Gum, or Red Rocket 7.” –Michael Allred
Each issue of X-Ray Robot contains bonus 3D pin-ups! X-Ray Robot #1 (of four) goes on sale March 25, 2020, and is available for pre-order at your local comic shop.
Praise for X-Ray Robot:
“One of the best cartoonists in all of comics has done it again! X-Ray Robot is another Allred homerun!!”–Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man, Superman)
“Mike Allred brings the brilliance, imagination, musicality, coolness, but also hope & much needed optimism, in a world of wonders and danger.”–David Mack (Kabuki)
“Comics’ reigning king of pop-art philosophizing and psychedelic psychodrama has once more delivered the goods with X-Ray Robot!”–Chris Roberson (iZombie, Witchfinder)
“Michael Allred kicks so much ass I can barely stand it. X-Ray Robot is the work of a master!”–Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars)
“Mike Allred’s work consistently captures the purest joy and escapism you can find in comics. I have bought everything that Mike has produced for the last thirty years, and X-Ray Robot is on my pull list.”–Alex Ross (Kingdom Come)
“—It just wouldn’t be another Mike Allred masterpiece without existential angst, retro-hip design motifs and clear and clever story-telling. Luckily, X-Ray Robot not only has all of those goodies to spare but also Michael’s other vital element…characters that make us care about them. As always, Mike shines his high-powered x-rays on the human soul, seeking to unveil the quirky and personal realities that live inside all of us.”–Matt Wagner (Grendel, Mage)
“There’s no one quite like Mike Allred, and there’s nothing quite like a Mike Allred comic. X-Ray Robot is another fine example of Allred’s unique take on the world and the comic book medium, by turns insane, moving, gripping, and beautiful. We really need a new word; Allredistic.”–Peter Milligan (Enigma, Tomorrow)
