Lionsgate has used their CinemaCon presentation to announce that John Wick 5 is now officially in development. Franchise stalwart Chad Stahelski is set to produce and direct alongside the return of Keanu Reeves.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group said, “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next.”
For now, story details about the fifth film are being kept under wraps. The last film, John Wick: Chapter 4 took in over $440 million at the worldwide box office completing the rare feat in which each film in the franchise has outperformed its predecessor. As a whole, the Wick franchise has earned over $1 billion at the global box office. Its first spin-off film, Ballerina, is set to launch in cinemas across the globe later this year.
