Lionsgate has debuted the a brand new trailer and posters for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, setting the stage for its worldwide theatrical and IMAX release on November 20, 2026.
The prequel adapts Suzanne Collins’s bestselling novel, which delivered massive commercial numbers upon release—selling 1.5 million copies in its first week across major territories including the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Set 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games, the story begins on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games. It focuses on a young Haymitch Abernathy, portrayed by Joseph Zada, following the future District 12 mentor long before Katniss Everdeen volunteered in his place.
Franchise veteran Francis Lawrence returns to helm the feature from a screenplay written by Billy Ray. Lawrence also produces alongside long-time series producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, with Cameron MacConomy serving as executive producer. Together, the previous five films in the powerhouse cinematic franchise have collectively earned more than $3.3 billion at the global box office.
Zada leads an expansive, star-studded ensemble cast that includes Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.. Audiences will get to see the brutal arena unfold when The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping lands exclusively in cinemas and IMAX this autumn.
