Earlier today rumours began to circulate that Marvel Studios had something big planned. Bigger than announcing the return of Robert Downey Jnr level of big. Then, at 15:00 GMT, a live stream video began and spun the entire internet on its axis.
It all began with a chair. That chair read Chris Hemsworth leading many to think a Thor 5 announcement was in the offing. Then, 15 minutes later, another chair was added to the lineup. Vanessa Kirby aka Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four. Gradually over the next few hours the studio revealed the full first wave of names who will be starring in Avengers: Doomsday.
Watch the abridged version of the announcement in the player below:
The full announced lineup is as follows:
- Chris Hemsworth – Thor
- Vanessa Kirby – Invisible Woman

Obviously there is a lot to unpack here. Particularly those names NOT included in the list. But also those names from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise and the return of Channing Tatum as Gambit. It’s going to be a wild ride in the wait for this film to release Super Friends.
Avengers: Doomsday is now in production and is set to release in cinemas in May 2026.
