After the shocking revelations in last week’s penultimate episode. Today we’re taking a closer look at this week’s season finale of Doctor Who. The series streams new episodes in the UK on BBC iPlayer from midnight on Saturday before airing that same evening on BBC One. Fans in the US can stream new episodes every Friday on Disney+.
“Empire of Death” is directed by Jamie Donoughue and was once again written by showrunner Russell T. Davies. Before we take a look at those official stills let’s have a sneaky peek at the synopsis:
The Doctor has lost, his ageless enemy reigns supreme, and a shadow is falling over creation. Nothing can stop the devastation … except, perhaps, one woman.

The new season will also see an all star line up including returnees Yasmin Finney and Bonnie Langford who will reprise their roles as Rose Noble and Mel Bush. As well as introducing Jinkx Monsoon as the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet, Jonathan Groff in a mysterious key role, and Lenny Rush as Morris, to name just a few…
For those in the UK, for the first time ever, the Doctor will land with two episodes premiering on BBC iPlayer at midnight, before arriving on BBC One later that day right before the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final.
At the same time, those outside of the UK can watch the Doctor and Ruby on their epic adventures as the TARDIS is set to land on Disney+ where available. Viewers in the UK will now be able to watch whenever and wherever they choose, with the option to stream at midnight on BBC iPlayer or tune in at primetime on Saturday nights on BBC One.
