When the first trailer dropped back in November of 2023, some fans were slightly suspicious of the darker tone that the trailer ran with, especially when you remember just how fun the original Avatar: The Last Airbender show was. However, Netflix released a brand new trailer for their upcoming live-action adaptation, and it’s safe to say that it blew everyone away in the best way possible.
This new trailer hits with everything it has. We get a fresh look at some of the bending, which looks absolutely fantastic, we see flashes of memorable characters like Jet, Bumi, and even Teo in his flying wheelchair device, and we even see Aang enter the Avatar state. This trailer really threw a lot at us, and while it did an outstanding job of showing us the beautiful visuals, it was great to see more of the Gaang. The first trailer took a very minimal approach in that regard, but this time we get to see how they interact with one another. These live action interpretations may differ in some way, but the trailer really revealed how the cast have embodied each character. There’s respect there, but there’s also a playfulness.
As fans of the original show, one of the things we loved most about this trailer was the inclusion of Jeremy Zuckerman’s iconic score. The Last Guardian‘s Takeshi Furukawa will be scoring the series, so it’ll be interesting to see how Zuckerman’s score is incorporated, or whether they go for something completely new. The fact the original theme is used may be a good indication.
Enough from us, what did you think of the trailer? Bet sure to let us know in the comments, and don’t forget… Avatar: The Last Airbender is just 29 days away.
