Well, it looks like the nightmare isn’t quite over yet. According to a report via Deadline, a sequel to Blumhouse’s M3GAN is already in the works over at Universal with a release date set for January 17th, 2025. So, M3GAN 2… Or M3GAN 2.0 is officially happening, and that’s not all…
The report also confirms that Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are set to return as Gemma and Cady. It’s great news for us, but bad news for our characters. There was a very subtle tease at the end of the film regarding M3GAN’s status and it appears as though she’ll be back for some sweet revenge. The sequel is being penned by Akela Cooper, who wrote the script for M3GAN, and Williams will serve as a producer once again.
With the original film racking up just under $100M at the worldwide box office in just 2 weeks- also remembering its $12M budget- a sequel is definitely not a surprise. Even looking at M3GAN as a concept, there is an entire world of AI to explore. However, the attention must stay on M3GAN and her charm. Replicating that will definitely be a difficult task, but we’re confident that the team who brought M3GAN to life have quite the story hidden up their sleeves.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted once more news becomes available. So, make sure you keep your eyes peeled. Don’t forget, you can also check out James’ full review of M3GAN right here.
