Review
In this issue the character that normally sits in the shadows comfortably waiting in the back round finally bursts into the forefront and this is something that Gotham may well not be ready for what is to come. With her sadistic nature Punchline sets about putting her mark on the Gotham underworld and woe betide anyone who gets in her way, as one of the strongest female characters in the DC Universe Punchline sets about making a name for herself that will send ripples through the waters of Gotham and shivers into her foes. Her major plan is to reunite the iconic Royal Flush Gang bringing members out of retirement to help her fulfil her evil potential and bring then back together one more time. I get the feeling that Gotham isn’t ready for what is coming but it will need to get ready.
The story was a bit of a slow starter for me, I enjoyed the writing style of Tini Howard and Blake Howard I just felt that the story was a little slow to gather pace but on the whole the book is well written and you can see the potential for the arc to evolve into something pretty good which I will definitely look forward to see.
The illustrations were vibrant with lots of dramatic tones and bright colours that really caught the essence of the story and added more depth overall, definitely not a book for the faint of heart as Punchline isn’t a lady that likes to mess about and probably what kept my interest in the book, a great job by Gleb Melnikov.
Verdict
A slow start but looks to have potential to become something quite epic, Gotham needs to get ready for what is on the way Punchline is looking to make a statement.
