Mighty Morphin #17 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Mat Groom, illustrated by Moisés Hidalgo, coloured by Raul Angulo and lettered by Ed Dukeshire.

Issue #17 is available from 9th March 2022 either directly from Boom! Studios or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

From a brand new creative team comes the aftermath of the ELTARIAN WAR! The Mighty Morphin team must band together with New Green Ranger Matt and former Ranger Grace Sterling to rebuild their Command Center. But will old tensions arise to create new challenges for the teams? Or can they learn to finally put aside their differences?

    Review

A new era has begun in the Power Rangers multiverse, not only has The Eltarian War ended there is also a new writer to take the arc in a new direction in the form of critically acclaimed writer Mat Groom making this a very exciting time for Ranger fans.

In this issue we see the Rangers dealing with the aftermath of the devastating Eltarian War leaving most of Earth decimated the Rangers must now regroup but without their command centre rebuilding will be a tough task but being Power Rangers tough tasks are their forte. The Mighty Morphin team must work with the Green Ranger and Grace to hatch a plan to rebuild the command centre and get back to protecting the world as the threat of Lord Zedd is still real.

When I found out that Ryan Parrott was going to leave the creative team and the Power Rangers multiverse I was sceptical and slightly anxious as to what would happen with the continuing stories, well I needed not to worry Mat Groom has proved to be the perfect successor to Ryan’s throne, he has taken a much loved story that was pretty much finished after The Eltarian War and given it a whole new lease of life, rather than it being a blatant cash in it feels fresh and vibrant with a natural continuation in the story. For what I thought was dead and buried has now been rejuvenated with the excitement already beginning to build.

Moisés Hidalgo and Raul Angulo have continued their work within the art side of the comic using their obvious talents and knowledge of the Power Rangers to visually build a new world for the readers to explore. Using the dark tones and dramatic colours to highlight the dramatic story of the book to great effect.

    Verdict

As always a solid top marks read, the change of writer has not altered the story whatsoever, they say you can’t improve on perfection but this is pretty close.
