For me, Arcane came out of nowhere. It wasn’t on my radar at all, probably because I wasn’t well-versed in the lore of League of Legends. So it felt as though there was this automatic barrier in the way. But then I started hearing whispers and my curiosity piqued. As a fan of animation, it was hard to ignore the insane amount of praise this series was getting. Three episodes in and I was absolutely hooked. Not only is Arcane a visual marvel, it’s a fantastic piece of television that has so many amazing qualities. The show is boosted by its unique style, amazing voice cast, breathtaking score and mixture of songs, and its competent and thoughtful writing that trumps even the biggest films and shows. After that final episode ended, and it ended big, I was left wondering… What’s next?
My question was quickly answered when Netflix announced that Arcane would return for a second season. What fantastic news to wake up to. I was over the moon to learn that Vi and Jinx would be back on our screens once again. But that raised the question, when?
Well, the good news is that season 2 of Arcane is currently in production. The bad news is that we’ll have to wait quite a while for it. Remembering of course that season one took six years to make. However, Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent confirmed that fans would not have to wait six years for the next season. Thank goodness.
To celebrate the announcment we received a brief teaser. The clip doesn’t feature any footage but it does contain dialogue that seemingly teases what’s to come. What awaits Vi, Caitlyn and Jinx? The finale of season one certainly left us with many burning questions, but I guess we’ll have to wait and just put season one on repeat.
Check out the teaser below:
Arcane is available to stream on Netflix right now.
