Review
Last we left off with Superman he was taken away by Tal-Rho/Edge and forced to submit to the Eradiator. Picking up where this left us, we find Superman now houses the consciousness of General Zod himself. Clark being the tough guy that he is however continues to fight for control over his mind and body.
The rest of the family however regroup with the DOD and Irons returning to lend a hand to find a way out of this situation but all answers seem to lead to killing Superman.
Bitsie Tulloch absolutely owns the role of Lois Lane in this show, she has a lot of screen time in the episode and uses every second to get everyone to see her point of view and protect the Man of Steel. Even to go as far as to tell Irons the truth about who Superman is to her.
Even Jonathan gets to show his compassionate side when he gets to have a one on one chat with Irons to try and persuade him not to kill his father by pointing out that Irons was a good father and so is Clark.
Not to be outdone though, John Diggle pops up to lend a hand and be another voice of reason to help persuade General Lane and John Irons to fight for Superman. He has been popping up throughout the other Arrowverse shows, appearing in The Flash, Supergirl and an ancestor popping up on Legends of Tomorrow. Luckily his own problems with a green glowing ring he found at the end of Crisis plays no role in this episode and he is there to only be a trustworthy voice and representative of ARGUS. It’s great to see him back though and still making a difference around Earth Prime.
Jordan also has a chance to step up again and uses his power to locate his missing Dad. As I have said in previous reviews, I love how his powers have been developing. We’ve seen Superman grow into his powers thanks to the Smallville series but this version is showing how difficult it is to adjust to these powers and Jordan is forced to speed up his training in order to save his Dad.
Ultimately this all leads up to a battle between Superman (entirely taken over by Zod) and Steel, leading to Steel making a difficult decision to not fulfil his original mission and to get through to Clark to expel Zod from his mind. Wolf Parks once again showing his acting chops and seeing the guy internally debate from killing the copy of the man who killed his loved ones and destroying his world or to save an innocent man trying to fight himself.
The new duo team up and manage to subdue Tal-Rho but not before he blows up and absorbs all the consciousness of everyone within the Eradicator and is now thrown into a DOD prison.
Verdict
This show continues to absolutely tug at the heartstrings of any Superman fan. It has remained focused and tight in its storytelling and the entire cast shines with each passing episode. The only flaw I keep finding is the lack of reasoning of why none of the Earth Prime heroes have been contacted, this might have been a good time to call Kara to help fight her possessed cousin but again, zero reference to the rest of the world.
