During the Aniplex live-stream “Kimetsu TV, News Information Announcement Special” held for the Demon Slayer anime it was announced that season 2, titled Entertainment District Arc, will be televised on 30 stations and channels, covering most of Japan, later this year. The recent movie, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, will also get a Japanese TV Broadcast on September 25th, and after the broadcast new information on season 2 will be released. Will it likely be an air date? We can only hope so!
But, do not despair, Demon Slayer fans! Aniplex used this event to debut a new key visual as well as a short teaser trailer…
Although the teaser barely gives us new footage, it does provide us with a close look at the characters highlighted in the visual! We see our usual favourites, Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Alongside these we see the key character of this series, the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui, who was shown in the first visual for season 2.
We are also provided a closer look at our antagonist of this arc, the evil and seductive Daki, a demon hiding in plain sight within the Entertainment District. Plus, without getting into too many spoilers for the anime-only fans, we see three new characters, Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru.
The visual, like the anime, is packed full of colour and vibrancy and we can only expect the best animation from Ufotable Studios, who have continued to impress us!
Demon Slayer season 2 will take place directly after the events of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, building directly from the hype of the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time. It will again be directed by Haruo Sotozaki, with character designs from Akira Matsushima, and produced at Ufotable. The series will air on Fuji TV, Tokyo MX, and 28 other TV stations across Japan when it premieres sometime in 2021.
