Netflix has begun developing a sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s 2020 film We Can Be Heroes.
The film, drawing elements from Rodriguez’s Spy Kids franchise and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, followed the children of Earth’s superheroes that have to take on alien invaders that have kidnapped their parents.
Rodriguez — who wrote, directed and produced We Can Heroes — will return for the sequel. It is expected that Rodriguez will return in the same capacity for the sequel.
According to states released by the streamer, 44 million households viewed the first We Can be Heroes in the movie’s first 28 days on the service making it a surefire success.
We Can Be Heroes stars Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Pedro Pascal, Sung Kang, Boyd Holbrook, Taylor Dooley, YaYa Gosselin, Akira Akbar, Haley Reinhart, Andy Walken, Andrew Diaz, Brently Heilbron, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Lyon Daniels, Nathan Blair, Vivien Lyra Blair, Adriana Barraza, Brittany Perry-Russell, Christopher McDonald and Dylan Henry Lau.
