As part of a deal between Netflix and Ubisoft, Netflix are set to produce a live-action series based on the highly-popular video game franchise, Assassin’s Creed.
According to Variety, the deal also includes animated films, shows and anime series. While the search for a showrunner is underway, we do have some exciting news. It has been confirmed that Ubisoft’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers.
“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ brand into an iconic franchise,” said Altman. “We’re thrilled to create an ‘Assassin’s Creed’ series with Netflix. And we look forward to developing the next saga in the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ universe.”

The open world series which first debuted in 2007 focuses primarily on the ancient war between the Assassins and the Templars. With both factions hunting for advanced artifacts called Pieces of Eden created by the Isu. As of right now, it is hard to determine what the series will be looking to do. Will they want to craft their own story, or will they look to adapt one of the games. Perhaps the “success” of Michael Fassbender’s film will serve as a lesson for the folks over at Netflix.
