News coming out today that there seems to be more moving and replanning regarding upcoming film releases as film companies show concern over low numbers at cinemas due to the COVID pandemic.
The highly anticipated stand alone film of Black Widow will now likely be delayed as Disney look at their big releases, it is unconfirmed as to when the release will be moved to as of now. Also on the uncertainty list is Pixar’s next release Soul which could by pass cinemas altogether and be released straight onto the Disney+ platform, however it is unclear whether it will be a premium title such as the recent Mulan release where subscribers would have to pay a premium charge to see the film or if it would be shown as part of the subscription at the moment it is all a bit of a grey area.
Disney aren’t the only film company moving films the Black Widow delay comes just days after Warner Bros announced Wonder Woman 1984 will debut in late December instead of early October. STX also moved the Gerard Butler thriller Greenland out of September, while Universal pushed Candyman to 2021, depriving exhibitors of any major releases until the next James Bond opens on Nov. 20.
Like anything else on the world right now films are too suffering the effects of the pandemic.
