Breaking news overnight. Actor-turned-director Olivia Wilde is set to take on an as-yet-untitled Marvel movie for Sony Pictures.
Variety broke the news last night, reporting that Wilde would be helming a female fronted movie for the studio. Whilst representatives for both studios are yet to commenting on the new many believe Wilde could be the director to take on the long-rumoured Spider-Woman movie.
Wilde weighed in on the news herself on Twitter, posting a simple emoticon of a spider.

There has been plenty of rumour around Sony’s wish to take on a female-fronted Marvel project. Most recently it was reported that S.J. Clarkson was in development on a project around the character of Madame Web.
