The Bat is dead. Consider this mercy. After the fiasco with Justice League and Ben Affleck’s Batman movie we thought this was it for “Batfleck”. Honestly, he was one of my favorites. But he announced that he was done and some people were sad and some rejoiced.
Considering he only had two appearances, I believe he needed the chance to shine on his own. While it is doubtful that he will get his own movie- unless HBO have their own ideas- it would be nice to see him as Batman again… And it looks like he may have that chance.
According to Vanity Fair and The Flash director, Ben Affleck will return as the caped crusader. The Flash is speeding into cinema in 2022 and is looking to adapt the speedster’s most iconic story- Flashpoint. Andy Muschietti, the director at the helm of The Flash, had this to say about his upcoming movie and Ben’s involvement.
Check it out below

“His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he’s also very vulnerable,” Muschietti said. “He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”
Vanity Fair reported that Affleck got the script at the end of last week and has agreed to join the project.
“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before,”
“It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”
When you consider that Ezra Miller’s Flash worked with Affleck’s Batman, it makes sense for him to appear. As Muschietti says “There’s a familiarity there”. Barbara Muschietti, who is producing The Flash, also weighed in on Ben Affleck’s decision to return.
“There have been some all sorts of stories and things he said himself about having a very hard time playing Batman, and it had been difficult for him,” she said. “I think it was more about a difficult time in his life. When we approached him, he’s now in a very different time in his life. He was very open to it, which was a bit of a surprise to us. It was a question mark.”
There you have it. We will get to see Ben once again as Bruce Wayne. Some of us will cheer, some of us will be angry, while some will be curious. Whatever The Flash brings… I’m just glad that Ben is back and in a healthier place.
