After the announcements that Wonder Woman 1984 and Godzilla vs. Kong would be shifting release dates. It’s been confirmed that a number of other Warner Bros. properties are also on the move.
First up is Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. Originally set for release on July 17, it now shifts back two weeks to July 31. With cinemas in the UK potentially set to open on July 4 this gives cinema goers a couple of weeks to settle in to new arrangements before any major releases hit the big screen.
Robert Zemeckis’ The Witches, originally set for release on October 9 has been removed from their schedule altogether. No reason has been given for the lack of a new release date, could a HBO Max release be on the cards?
Tim Story’s animated-live-action hybrid Tom & Jerry, which stars Chloë Grace Moretz and Michael Peña, has moved from December 23 to March 5, 2021.
Lastly, Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix 4 will no longer open in 2021 and has instead been pushed to April 1, 2022. This is due to the complete shut down of production. With the film only have shot for a small number of weeks prior to lockdown it needs plenty of time to get back on track before it’s ready for release.
