It’s not just The Suicide Squad which director James Gunn has been speaking about in recent days. During Q&A sessions with fans on social media the director has also touched on the future of his other comic book franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy.
When Gunn temporarily left the upcoming third film in the Guardians franchise it put the film’s future in doubt. But thankfully for us all Gunn was soon back on board and Disney and set to head back to Marvel following his time as DC.
During a recent session chatting with fans, Gunn was asked whether would potentially return to direct a fourth entry in the franchise. Warning, some of you may find his response disappointing.
“I absolutely never said I wouldn’t do a Vol. 2, as I planned to do a trilogy from the beginning if the first one worked,” the filmmaker confirmed. “I have no plans to do a [fourth].”
It makes sense that after three films with the characters both Gunn and to some extent Marvel may want to do something different in the future.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently set to enter production once director James Gunn wraps up work on The Suicide Squad.
