With most of the world hiding in lockdown, a number of high-profile Hollywood production continue work in isolation. One of those is director James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Gunn has previously commented that members of the production team are currently continuing post-production on the Warner Bros. film in isolation.
The director is also well known for interacting with fans on social media and in recent days has spoken about the movie on a number of occasions. In response to one fan asking whether The Suicide Squad is set after Birds of Prey, Gunn responded that the film “takes place in the year it comes out.”
That would seem to confirm that it will indeed take place following Harley’s adventures with Huntress and Black Canary. Though whether the two films will be connected remains to be seen.
When asked by another fan whether he preferred Joker or Harley, Gunn gave a very animated response saying “Oh, I love the Joker, but Harley is one of my favourite characters I’ve ever written. In fact, she’s probably my favourite comic character whose personality was well-defined before I wrote her for the screen. She’s an incredible companion to have while writing her insane actions and dialogue. Did I say I LOVED her?”
Sounds positive to us!
