If there’s one thing we know about french horror, it’s that it likes to push boundaries.
Starting way back with Haute Tension in 2003, the new french extremity movement just keeps pumping, and with recent entries like the excellent Raw and Revenge, it’s shown that it’s in no danger of dying out in film anytime soon.
But what about on the small screen?
It’s not often that we get international (especially French series) available to us, but thanks to the international appeal of Netflix, we may get to see that happen next month when they release their new series Marianne.
Mixing up The Haunting of Hill House and the ‘fiction becoming reality’ aspect of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, I cannot wait to see what this new series has to offer.
Marianne follows a novelist who realizes her terrifying stories are coming true and returns to her hometown to face the demons from her past that inspire her writing.
The series was written and directed by Samuel Bodin, and will be released on Netflix this September 13.
