Netflix has announced plans for a new major production hub here in the UK. The streaming giant is taking out a long-term lease on Shepperton Studios which is currently owned by the Pinewood Group.
Netflix plans to operate 14 sound stages as well as office and post production space with the move seen as a major commitment to future productions.
The deal, believed to be in place for 10 years, will see the Netflix production hub take up 435,000 square feet of the studios. No financials have been revealed for the deal.
Many major films including Gladiator, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again have used the facilities in the past.
