Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is heading towards a huge $40M+ opening weekend at the domestic box office. In surpassing all expectations the movie (reviewed by us here!) is already fair game for a sequel.
Sony executive Amy Pascal recently sat down for a full and frank interview with Vanity Fair and discussed the studios plans for the animated Spidey.
The producer revealed that a Spider-Verse sequel is already in the works with Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender) set to direct a script by David Callahan (Wonder Woman 1984).
The story of the sequel will focus on Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy focussing on the romance between the two. The plot thread was teased in the first movie but left hanging when Stacy returned to her own universe.
