According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter Sony Pictures has some big plans for its animated Spider-Man universe. With Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse generating some serious buzz ahead of its December release it seems more movies are in the works.
It’s been revealed that Lauren Montgomery (Batman: Year One) is in talks with Sony to take the helm of a Spider-Woman animated movie. It is expected the character will front a female team movie possibly also starring Spider-Gwen who has proven a hit with fans. The report also mentions Madame Web, Spider-Girl, and Silk as potential characters to appear.
Bek Smith (Zoo) is said to be penning the screenplay, while Amy Pascal is on board to produce. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are expected to return.
It has also been confirmed that a Spider-Verse sequel is in the works, with Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender) on board to direct.
