Some interesting news to break overnight from EW as The Ring‘s Naomi Watt has landed the lead in a new Game of Thrones prequel series.
We have previously heard that HBO has been developing multiple properties to continue the long-running franchise. With the flagship show due to end in 2019 it’s a race to the screen for any continuation series.
The untitled prequel series will be helmed by Kingsman: The Secret Service writer Jane Goldman and original author George R. R. Martin. It is said to be set thousands of years before the Game of Thrones series.
Little is known about Watts character. The trade does give a brief description of the role as “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.” With filming set to start in early 2019.
