Netflix has brought the cancellation axe down on a second of Marvel’s streaming series. Following last weeks cancellation of Iron Fist it now seems that Luke Cage will not be returning for a third season.
In a joint statement released to Deadline the studios praised the cast and crew for their work on seasons 1 and 2:
“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”
Similarly to the fallout from Iron Fist we are hearing characters from Luke Cage may still appear in future Netflix series. Many fans are left hoping that following the pair of cancellations a Heroes for Hire series will soon be announced.
Marvel’s Luke Cage Season 2 stars Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis, Rosario Dawson, and Reg E. Cathey. Both seasons are available on Netflix now.
