Filming is officially underway on Todd Phillips Joker origin movie. As previously reported filming got underway around September 15 with New York doubling for an 1980s Gotham City.
Late last night director Todd Phillips brought us our first official look at Joaquin Phoenix in character. Revealing a portrait of the actor with tousled hair and very 80s fashion the photo also gave away one very important detail on the character. His name…
Phillips very simply captioned the photo “Arthur.”
Whilst Phillips was busy breaking social media UK newspaper The Daily Mail was revealing the first set photos from the movie.
Phoenix was snapped in the Harlem district of New York filming out in the street with an actor dressed as a clown. He was also spotted exiting a building with a “Ha-Ha’s Talent Agency” sign on the door, hinting that the film will take inspiration from The Killing Joke.
Joaquin Phoenix takes the lead in Joker and will star alongside Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Marc Maron (Glow) and 2x Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro.
Joker will be released on October 4, 2019. For all our Joker coverage head to our archive!
