Warner Bros. taps Ava DuVernay for DC Comics ‘New Gods’ adaption

Overnight Deadline and other trades have carried a report that Warner Bros. and DC Films are working on an adaption of the New Gods property masterminded by Jack Kirby.
The company has reportedly tapped A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay to helm the project. DuVernay made history by becoming the first female director of colour to direct a $100m+ project. A Wrinkle In Time hails from Disney but has failed to set critics and the box office alight.
New Gods focusses on characters such as Big Barda, Granny Goodness, Orion, Metron and, of course, Darkseid. It first began back in 1971 with New Gods #1.
