Disney star Asher Angel has been announced to star as Billy Batson in the upcoming Shazam film. Earlier this evening Variety exclusively broke the news that Angel, star of Andi Mack, will be joining Zachary Levi (Chuck) in the as-yet-undated picture.
Rumours circulating in the press have Mark Strong (Kingsman) in talks to play the villainous Doctor Sivana. Grace Fulton is also rumoured to be joining the cast in a supporting role.
David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) will direct the film from a script by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. Shazam is a co-production between New Line and Warner Bros. it is not yet known whether the film will form part of the main DC Films Universe.
