Scrapper #6 is published by Image Comics, written by Cliff Bleszinski and Alex De Campi and art by Ryan Kelly and Jordie Bellaire.

Issue #6 is available 13th December 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Scrapper takes the fight all the way to SMITE’s leader, but there’s one more terrible surprise for him waiting there. Meanwhile, all that stands between SMITE and city-wide animal mind control is our team of strays and varmints. Can the animals that nobody wants manage to save everybody? The thrilling conclusion to CLIFF BLESZINSKI’s comics debut.

    Review

All roads lead to this point, Scrapper finally faces the head of SMITE and a final chance to take down this evil corporate engine looking at ruling with complete animal mind control across the entire city but Scrapper and his band of unlikely heroes have something to say about that.

In this final issue everything that Scrapper has worked towards is now set in play and the determination to take down SMITE is all that Scrapper can think of and it’s all that keeps him going. The attack from the band of strays is probably not something they would’ve of expected and most definitely something that looks like they can just brush to one side and carry on their evil doing. But one thing they have seriously underestimated is the size of the heart of this group of misfits and the fight is most definitely alive and pumping through their veins, in this all or nothing final battle. The only thing that drives Scrapper forward is retribution and getting back to his parents once more, this isn’t just any battle this is personal. The war may about to come to an end but I have a sneaking suspicion that this isn’t the last we’ll hear from Scrapper.

I’ve said before that I am a big fan of Cliff Bleszinski’s pervious work creating one of my favourite ever game titles and now he has brought that talents to the comic table and you can’t deny that he most definitely deserves a place there alongside the equally talented writer Alex De Campi, both creating an emotional story of hope and determination as you see Scrapper fight against all odds to get the job done. In the much known story of David and Goliath or even Good versus Evil there is only ever one winner but when the odds are stacked against you it definitely makes for a edge of the seat read I never thought I’d get from a story about animals.

I really liked the art style of this series with Ryan Kelly and Jordie Bellaire combining to create a dark world that trouble Lurks around ever bend. The intensity of the action sequences really comes through on the pages really giving the reader a immersive read that really hits home with each page.

    Verdict

A great series that brought an even better ending. A series that at first glance I didn’t expect to have such an intense story, one thing is definitely clear dogs can be superheroes too. Cliff Bleszinski’s Midas touch works once again.
