Netflix Geeked continues to be the gift which keeps on giving. After last night’s huge trailer for Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman adaption, the streamer has now revealed a first look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams.
Ortega takes the lead in a new series, also called Wednesday, from famed director Tim Burton. Former Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar will run The Addams Family spinoff through its first season, set to debut later this year.
A new synopsis for the series reads: Wednesday is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting 16-year-old Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Season One will follow Wednesday as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

From the creative mind of Tim Burton, Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams. Co-starring are Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Gwendoline Christie, Thora Birch, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa and Moosa Mostafa. Members of the Addams family will guest across the series with Catherine Zeta-Jones as matriarch Morticia and Luis Guzmán as Wednesday’s father Gomez. Victor Dorobantu plays dismembered hand, Thing, Isaac Ordonez plays Wednesday’s brother Pugsley and George Burcea plays manservant Lurch.
The series will debut later in 2022.
