Stray Dogs: Dog Days #1 is published by Image Comics, written by Tony Fleecs and illustrated by Trish Forstner.

Print copies will be available 29th December 2021 either directly from Image Comics or from your local comic book shops. Digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

A series of vicious short stories howling straight out of the pages of STRAY DOGS, 2021’s surprise cartoon/horror smash hit! In DOG DAYS, each stray will get their moment to shine—questions will be answered, mysteries will be solved, and old wounds will be torn open. Starting this December…every dog has its day.

    Review

In an off shoot of the popular horror comic series Stray Dogs, Stray Dogs: Dog Days goes a bit deeper into the character back stories and uncovers the mysteries and answers questions. In a series of short stories you get to know the stray dogs story as each are introduced, along with a shady character that keeps appearing making me think there is much more sinister goings on here all is definitely not as it seems, the next issue will be interesting to say the least.

I haven’t come across the work of Tony Fleecs as I missed stray dogs the first time (but I will be hunting it down after this). Tony brings an emotional selection of stories that is guaranteed to pull at your heart strings, he doesn’t seem to focus on the normal graphic horror instead focusing on the mind and getting the reader to feel every line they read making for a far more immersive reading experience.

Trish Forstner brings a unique feel to the illustrations and brings the words on the pages to life, as this is more of an introduction to the backstory of already known characters, this book still gets you asking questions over what you are seeing unfold infront of you, I am definitely looking forward to see more in the next issue.

    Verdict

    ⭐⭐⭐

An interesting view into the lives through the eyes of pets, a unique and new comic arc and something completely different, will be interesting to see where this will go and what the creative team have in store fir us the readers.
