Vinyl #5 is published by Image Comics, written by Doug Wagner, illustrated by Daniel Hillyard, coloured by Dave Stewart and lettered by Ed Dukeshire.

Issue #5 is available now in print and will hit digital platforms from 27th October 2021 either direct from Image Comics or from your local comic book store. Digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

It’s time. Madeleine’s bunker of abominations comes face to face with Walter’s blood-crazed psychopaths, Let them fight!

    Review

The time for talking is over. Now is the time for action with the penultimate issue of Doug Wagner’s gory slash fest. In this issue the epic final battle begins with Walter’s team taking on the crazed Madeleine and her blood thirsty squad. But when one crazed killer goes up against another nothing will ever be simple.

My feelings of respectful pity for Walter remain unchanged, no matter what he does I still want to side with him. He’s definitely a loveable character as Wagner exposes more of his gentle, caring side throughout this issue.

As the fight continues Walter comes to the realisation the he is the one that can save all his friends and stop Madeleine. It’s a risk but a risk Walker will have to take to stop the madness.

Wagner writes another gripping story that takes you on an emotional miss-match journey. I don’t think there are many stories out there with a loveable serial killer as a main character. The psychotic serial killer battle is one that I am fully invested in, it’s probably the most graphic story I have ever seen with an intriguing and gripping story throughout. A dark but strangely thought provoking a book that when you finish you still run over repeatedly in your mind, signs of a well written story.

The illustrations of Vinyl from Daniel Hillyard are probably one of the best I’ve seen in comic form, the book is extremely graphic but not done in a turn your stomach type of way, it has a strange effect on you, the colouring from Dave Stewart is eye popping with bright colours and dramatic tones grabbing your attention and not letting you go throughout.

    Verdict

Vinyl as a series has definitely surprised me from the first issue it captured my attention and is now a title I look for when the next issue comes around. Definitely for fans that like their comics a little more twisted than usual, definitely one I’d recommend easily one of my favourite titles this year.
