It looks like development on HBO Max’s planned Batgirl movie is moving to the next stage. After finding its directors, Deadline is now reporting that casting has begun on finding the titular heroine.
Sources tell the trade that Warner execs are expected to test a group of actresses starting this week for the highly coveted role of Barbara Gordon. Names that are currently in the hat are Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch and Leslie Grace. It has also been reported that Haley Lu Richardson is involved with casting, but she might have bowed out before the test process.
Little is known about the project though recent casting breakdowns point to Batgirl’s first big-screen adventure centring on the Year One storyline from the pages of DC Comics.
