Some exciting news for Bat-family fans this morning, it seems that Warner Bros. and DC Comics long-planned Batgirl film is finally moving ahead at HBO Max.
Late last night an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to take on the first feature-length adaption of Barbara Gordon’s story. The pair recently wrapped up directing duties on Marvel Studios Ms. Marvel which debuts on Disney+ later this year.
The pair also directed Bad Boys For Life.
Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and is in the Warners fold with her screenwriting on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned what will be her third DC Films project. Kristin Burr (Cruella) is currently on board as producer.
‘With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham,” said Burr. “Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”
No news yet on when Batgirl is planned for release but watch this space for more…
