Back in the early 2000’s Alias and Star Wars: The Force Awakens mastermind J.J. Abrams was working on a Superman movie. Abrams was scripting the picture which was at one point to be directed by Brett Ratner.
Superman: Flyby was set for a 2004 release date before being cancelled by Warner Bros. It is said that pre-production drama, including disagreements over who should star as the titular hero are what ultimately led to its demise.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse director Peter Ramsey worked as a storyboard artist on Superman: Flyby and has released this insight in to how the movie could have looked.

Ramsey later clarified these images were drawn during the Ratner era of the movie before McG took over directing duties.
Superman: Flyby will forever be a concept we never get to see brought to life but it’s great to get a little insight in to what the studio was planning at the time.
