The cult-hit anime Dorohedoro is officially back, with the highly anticipated second season set to premiere this Spring 2026 on Crunchyroll.

Directed by Yuichiro Hayashi (Attack on Titan Final Season) the story of Dorohedoro is in the lawless district known as Hole, sorcerers from another world use its residents as guinea pigs for their twisted magic. Caiman is one of those victims—left with a lizard head and no memory of his past, he’s now on a brutal quest for answers. To reclaim his true face and forgotten past, he and his partner Nikaido hunt sorcerers, hoping to uncover the truth behind his transformation.
When the first season of Dorohedoro aired back in 2020, it stood out in the crowd with its bombastic and unhinged story and it’s unique 3D animation. Based on the manga by Q Hayashida, the series is famous for its incredibly detailed, messy, and “industrial-punk” art style that many believed would never translate to animation without compromise. However, Studio MAPPA successfully blended 3D CGI with grimy 2D backgrounds to create a visual identity unlike anything else in the medium and further cemented themselves as one of the best studios in the anime business.

Despite rave reviews though and a dedicated following, the series went on an indefinite hiatus. For over five years, fans wondered if they would ever see Caiman and Nikaido again. But here we are with Season 2 just around the corner!
So where did we leave things off?
Season 1 ended with some revelations and some lingering mysteries. But our main character, the lizard-headed Caiman, is still on his quest to find the sorcerer who cursed him and to discover the identity of the man living inside his throat (I know it’s insane but stay with us!).
Season 2 is expected to dive straight into the “Blue Night” arc. This is a pivotal moment in the story where the Sorcerer world’s elite, led by the mushroom-obsessed En, search for their “partners.” At the same time, the mysterious organization known as the Cross-Eyes begins to make more aggressive moves in the Hole.
In a shift from its previous distribution, Crunchyroll will be the primary home for the new season with both subbed and dubbed versions expected to roll out shortly after the Japanese broadcast.
Dorohedoro remains a breath of fresh air in a crowded market. It is a show that blends horrifying, hilarious, and deeply wholesome moments in a visually impressive case. Whether you’re here for the mystery of Caiman’s face or just to see Nikaido make the perfect gyoza, the return to the Hole is going to be the highlight of the Spring season.
Dorohedoro Season 2 airs on Crunchyroll in April 2026 and be sure to check out Season 1 of Dorohedoro over on Crunchyroll along with 1000’s of other anime titles!
