Release date for second DARK PHOENIX trailer release (potentially) leaks

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Fans have been waiting a while now to see more footage from Dark Phoenix. The first trailer debuted back in September and gave fans a glimpse at what to expect when the movie finally arrives in June.

But with many questioning whether it will be a repeat of The Last Stand we’ve been waiting to find out more. Given this may be the last team movie before the group enter the MCU a lot is riding on its success.

Now, thanks to our friends at ComicBookMovie, we have an idea when the next trailer might arrive. The site picked up on image doing the rounds from Twitter.

The official X-Men movies twitter account for Japan put out a statement saying a new trailer would arrive on February 28. The tweet was almost immediately deleted but that didn’t stop one eagle-eyed reader from snapping an image of it.

It could be the tweet was taken down due to inaccurate information. Or it was too early to announce the release… watch this space!

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling our of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite – not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix is being directed by Simon Kinberg. James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender are confirmed to return to the roles of Charles Xavier, Mystique and Magneto respectively. Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee will also return.

The film is due for release on June 7, 2019.
