Sad news this morning for DCTV fans as The CW and star Stephen Amell have confirmed that Arrow is coming to an end. The series, currently airing its seventh season, will return for a 10-episode eighth season later in the year.
Following the news hitting social media, Amell took to Facebook to appear in a length video explaining the reasons for the show ending. But also to thank many of the cast, crew and creative team who have helped bring the show to life over the past seven years.
In a joint statement, executive producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and showrunner Beth Schwarz said, “This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind. We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, David Ramsey as John Diggle and Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Siren. Season 7 will see the return of Colton Haynes as Roy Harper/Arsenal.
Arrow airs on The CW Mondays at 8/7c. In the UK the show airs on Sky One on Thursdays at 9pm.
