Warner Bros. yesterday announced a slight shakeup of their release schedule. Of note to comics fans was the delay of the upcoming solo ‘Aquaman’ film. Originally due to hit screens on October 5th 2018 the film will now drop on December 21st. No reason has been given for the delay. At only two months it’s unlikely to be for any major production issues. The only other film of note being released on December 21st is Sony’s animated untitled Spider-Man film. Great news for fans of the FX series ‘Legion’ this morning. The show has officially been renewed for a second season. With season one still on the air it is expected that season two will premiere in 2018. In a statement to the press FX Presidents of Original Programming Nick Grad and Eric Schrier spoke of their delight at the series success. The first season of Legion was a stunning achievement, more than a new series, Legion is a wholly original take on the super hero genre. Another day, another clip from ‘Power Rangers’. It’s now just nine days to go until the film hits cinemas worldwide and the marketing machine continues not to slow down. Today has seen the release of the fourth clip from the film. This time we get to see Black Ranger, Zack, learning to drive the Mastodon Zord. Around a week ago Lionsgate circulated a document to the press detailing the production of ‘Power Rangers’. We’ve known for some time that Warner Bros. was lining up a sequel to ‘Man of Steel’. The question on the minds of fans across the world was who would take the directors chair? Collider has an idea about who that person might be. In an exclusive report published earlier today they have named Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman) as the front runner. The battle between King Kong and Wolverine is over. ‘Kong: Skull Island’ has landed at the top of the North American box office knocking ‘Logan’ in to second place. In it’s first weekend in the frame ‘Kong: Skull Island’ took an estimated $61M. Opening to $20.2M on Friday the film rose 19% to take $24M on Saturday. Rounding out the weekend the Warner Bros. film took $16.7M on Sunday. Despite the strong showing ‘Kong: Skull Island’ still fell well short of 2014’s ‘Godzilla’.
