Overnight Deadline and other trades have carried a report that Warner Bros. and DC Films are working on an adaption of the New Gods property masterminded by Jack Kirby. The company has reportedly tapped A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay to helm the project. DuVernay made history by becoming the first female director of colour to direct a $100m+ project. A Wrinkle In Time hails from Disney but has failed to set critics and the box office alight. The guys at IMAX have proven again and again that they know how to put together a movie poster. For almost all of the big Hollywood releases of the last few years the IMAX artwork has been stunning. Most recently we’ve seen posters for Justice League and Black Panther which have shown off the companies flare for creativity. Overnight the company has released artwork for Ready Player One. Earlier today we brought you the news that Square Enid would be making a Tomb Raider related announcement today. As expected we got the formal announcement of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.  The game, billed as the completion of Lara Croft’s origin trilogy, is due for release on September 14, 2108. Along with the announcement came the release of games teaser trailer. Both that trailer and the update to TombRaider.com confirm a full announcement for the game is due on April 27. With previews for Ready Player One playing in theatres next week Warner Bros. is making one last promotional push with a final trailer. Although a lot of this footage has been seen in previous trailers there’s still a  bunch of new shots and quotes from the press praising the film. Tomb Raider hits cinemas today and finally the review embargo has lifted. Whilst the reviews are decidedly mixed, as of writing the films holds a score of 52% on aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. It gives us no surprise to report that Black Panther has flown past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Following it’s $22.7m opening day in China the film took a full weekend gross of $66.5m. Overall, the film added an estimated $100m internationally pushing the overseas total to $516.6m for a global tally that now totals $1.078 billion. In North America the film remains number one for a fourth week. The first Marvel Cinematic Universe to hold the number one spot for that length of time.
