The Oscars aren’t known for recognising science-fiction or superhero movies. Outside of the special effects, make-up and sound categories these types of films are entirely snubbed by the awards ceremony. The judging board behind the Oscars as now decided to add a new category to help these kinds of films get more awards show exposure. From next year the ceremony will include the “Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film” award. Aquaman director James Wan has been discussing the reasons why he decided not to include other members of the Justice League in the movie.
