The first poster for Arrow season 7 has been released. Star Stephen Amell shared the below image on social media over the weekend teasing Oliver Queen’s time in prison. Overnight it’s been rumoured in the trades that a key character in Todd Phillips Joker has been cast. Deadline and several other major websites are all carrying the story that Alec Baldwin has been cast as Thomas Wayne. This is reportedly the role that Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen recently passed on playing. According to reports Thomas Wayne will be a “a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump”. Sony Pictures has released the first TV spot for Venom and the short trailer features of plenty of new footage from the movie! The spot focusses on Riz Ahmed’s Carlton Drake as he hunts Eddie Brock for stealing (or escaping?) with his symbiote. Much of the spot shows further footage from the scenes in Eddie’s apartment glimpsed in both trailers. Variety is reporting that Shane Black’s Predator is set to had a solid opening weekend. According to the trade the latest movie in the franchise is tracking for a $30M+ opening when it finally arrives in cinemas in September. By comparison the last movie in the franchise, 2010’s Predators, opened with $24.7M when it opened in July of that year. The highest gross film featuring the alien hunters remains Alien vs. Predator which opened with $38.2M back in 2004. Todd Phillips Joker is due to begin production next month in New York. Today a new rumour from Film Music Reporter brings us an idea as to who might be scoring the movie. The sites reports that Sicario: Day of the Soldado composer Hildur Guðnadóttir will be taking on the clown prince of crime. Guðnadóttir is an accomplished cellist who has taken part in may film scores herself. As a composer Guðnadóttir has worked on Baltasar Kormákur’s The Oath. She collaborated with Jóhann Jóhannsson on Garth Davis’ Mary Magdalene. A new batch of set photos for Star Wars: Episode IX have hit the web. The photos predominantly show off Poe, Finn and Chewbacca on some kind of planetary adventure. Whilst the landscape doesn’t appear to give much away there are still some interesting clues to the films storyline to pick out. Finn and Poe appear to be on the hunt for something, with Chewbacca hanging back rather than entering the action. Venom and its star Tom Hardy are gracing the cover of the latest issue of Total Film Magazine. Whilst we wait for the magazine to hit shelves the publisher has released a new image from the film to tease the article. Unlike much of the promotional material released recently this image focusses on Eddie Brock rather than the black suited menace himself. The image appears to be from the scene in the trailer where Eddie is ambushed at home after escaping with the symbiote in tow. Following the news that Danny Boyle has exited Bond 25  over “creative differences” we are now hearing the film may miss it’s October 2019 release date altogether. Rumours point of Boyle struggling to work with producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. When he boarded the project Boyle brought longtime collaborator John Hodge with him to work on the script. That reportedly pushed out a script by Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade who have a long history with the franchise. A new image from Iron Fist season 2 is teasing the arrival of villain Typhoid Mary. It was announced earlier this year that Star Trek: Into Darkness star Alice Eve had joined the cast of the Netflix show as Mary Walker aka Typhoid Mary. This incarnation of the character has dissociative identity disorder, with three distinct personalities sharing her body: Mary, Typhoid and Bloody Mary. This is a character trait lifted straight out of the comics. Typhoid Mary won’t be the only villain cropping up in season 2. Excellent news for Wonder Woman 1984 this morning as it seems composer Hans Zimmer is coming out of superhero retirement to score the film. Zimmer is no stranger to DC Comics movies having scored Chris Nolan’s entire Batman trilogy as well as Man of Steel and Batman v Superman for Zack Snyder. Following BvS Zimmer announced he was retiring from superhero movies. His Wonder Woman theme lived on in the score for last years solo movie which was composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams.
