With December right around the corner plenty of websites are taking a look at Aquaman‘s potential opening weekend box office.
There’s a general consensus amongst the major players that DC Films latest offering is tracking for an opening weekend in the region of $65M. Aquaman will open for the 5-day holiday weekend which leads in to Christmas day. Over that period the movie is tracking for around $100M.
By comparison many had expected the holiday season to be ruled by Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns. That movie is tracking for around $35M in it’s opening weekend and $70M over the 5-day period.
Wonder Woman, a much more recognisable name to the general audience, opened to $103.2M in June 2017.
A $65M opening would be a solid win for Warner Bros. off the back of the disappointing opening of Justice League. Many are expecting Aquaman to have great box office legs particularly across the holiday season.
It’s strongly rumoured that tickets for UK screenings will go on sale today. We’ll keep you updated!
