It was recently announced that Joker will get a gala premiere as part of the Toronto Film Festival. Now the head of the festival has heaped some huge praise on the Todd Phillips directed picture. In an interview with the Toronto Sun Cameron Bailey has described the movie as a “cinematic achievement on a high level.” When asked why Joker would be taking centre stage at the festival Bailey had this to say: “First of all it’s terrific. The genius that is legendary composer Hans Zimmer has dropped a special surprise on film score fans today. He has released a new album containing over an hour of new music from the recording sessions for Dark Phoenix. In an accompanying tweet Zimmer explains that during the course of scoring the movie over 16 hours of music was recorded. The 12 track album includes alternate versions of themes from the movie as well as plenty of experimental tracks. Deadline is reporting that Marvel and ABC are one again in “active talks” in an attempt to launch a female-led, live-action TV series. We previously reported that Wonder Woman scribe, Allan Heinberg, was working on a project for the network which would feature a majority female cast. The trade understands that this new series is separate to that series. That series received a pilot order before being axed back in February. Master of the motion capture, Andy Serkis, has confirmed that he is going to be directing the upcoming Venom 2 for Sony Pictures. There were rumours last week that Serkis was close to signing a deal with the studio to take on the sequel to 2018’s Venom. That movie was directed by Ruben Fleischer.
