I absolutely love some Kaiju magic. Seeing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, despite its flaws, was a treat. Witnessing the might of Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan on the big screen was an incredibly memorable experience. The next big installment in the MonsterVerse is Godzilla vs Kong. However, it seems we have even more waiting to do now.

Some may argue that the superhero genre is oversaturated. With the various Marvel films and shows in production, the different DC titles, and other shows like The Boys and Umbrella Academy, it’s hard not to agree. However, My Hero Academia has glided through the ranks not only as a fantastic anime show but a worthy addition to the superhero genre.

The great thing about anime in general is the variety. Of course you get very similar story lines that correlate with the genre- Isekai’s for example. But there is a lot out there and it is certainly exciting when you find a show that exceeds your expectation. For me, that was Re:Zero.

During my ‘anime-infancy’ I played it safe by watching a lot of shows that I knew I would enjoy. That meant sticking to a very familiar genre that would typically ensure some form of enjoyment. For me, that genre was action and adventure. You can never go wrong with those.
